About us

After finishing college with a Diploma in Computer Studies , I embarked on the expected course of attending university and ended up with a degree in Public Art and Design .  It was a fantastic degree, but there aren’t many openings in the Art world!

I looked for some work experience placements and thought my degree would be useful in the property sector and ended up at a National Estate Agent . I really enjoyed the buzz of the office, gaining my understanding of property and everything that went with it – I found it totally fascinating.

They offered me a role within the business , but to my surprise it was as a Mortgage Broker (they said my  ‘empathy and calm nature‘ would come in handy – in hindsight I think they meant I wasn’t pushy enough to be a good estate agent)!

I completed the training and passed the exams in my own time and was advising clients within 3 months.  It was great !  The role suited my personality and there was , and still is , nothing better than seeing clients take the keys to their new home you’ve helped them buy.

Working as an adviser in an Estate Agent is limiting though, both on products you can advise on and the fact you are primarily representing the seller of the property, rather than the client you are securing the mortgage for, so decided to look for a role which allowed me to be whole -of-market and  enable me to give totally independent advice .

I joined a large mortgage brokerage and this really opened my eyes in terms of scope of advice and the importance of the client journey.   I became their in-house Shared Ownership specialist and again found this really rewarding – both for myself and for the style of advice I wanted to give.

Over time I built strong relationships with many introducers and clients and realised I wanted something different from the industry and decided to start my own firm, where I could put my own ideal of a ‘client first‘ ethos at the core of the business….  and MORTGAGE SUPERHEROES was born.
